By the way, Tokyo had a snow yesterday.

It was the first snow he had in Tokyo this winter.
It's still been so cold and this morning, the weather forecast said that we're possibly gonna have another snow tonight!

It's beautiful watching snow falling but I hate it's freezing.

Peace!

Hi everyone. It's been ages since the last update.
Sorry for the long absence and happy new year to everyone.

Today, I have a great news, BOS has just opened a studio in Itabashi, Tokyo.

STUDIO@BOS

It's a unique training/rehearsal studio which has the gymnastics floor, trampoline,
crush matt, and wire gag facility.
BOS provides an ideal environment for all action/stunt performers to
train themselves effectively, and also as a useful venue for productions
in rehearsing, filming or test shooting.

I hope many performers, not only action/stuntmen, but also actors and actresses, dancers and all other performers, will come and enjoy using this studio.

Cheers!
Hi！
I'm home now.

There's a news for everybody.

During the filming in NZ, I had a interview from Japanese TV show,"GUTTO CHIKYU-BIN".

"A Japanese stunt man works overseas"

With a great co-operation of the Power Rangers productions, they filmed and interviewed for 5 days in NZ.
It's quite rare coz the copyright must be strictly protected in any TVs and movies.

It sounds weired but it's not in Japan sometimes, though.

How lucky, The Disney Inc., The production of the Power Rangers allowed them filming our filming scene from behind and interviewing us. Of course, TOEI, the original production of the Power Rangers gave them a permission to film us and air the program in Japan.
In many countries, 'stuntman' is acknowledged as one of the professional jobs, and some of the fans ask them for an autograph instead of their main actors and actresses(for real). So it's not gonna surprise children even if there's a stuntie who acts the scenes instead.

But, especially in super hero programs, it seems not like that, which means that I have to stay as a double and hide myself behind.
"You're not the real!"... Well, It may so.

This is our fate.

Because of this reason, those TV crew had to have hard times in filming me all the way(o-oh).

It's already aired 12/march and everybody and I enjoyed it very much. Some scenes embarrassed me, though.
Anyways, it's a good one which introduces Japanese people just like me who's kicking asses overseas.
Why don't you check it out?
Hi,

You can see various nice cloths in any TVs and movies these days, but in super hero shows, you'll be amazed by those specific designs of costumes. This time, I wanna feature the wardrobe department.

This is the "Wardrobe bus", which brings us those colorful, fluffy costumes to change every morning. Also, they often have a couple of wardrobe trucks and carry more costumes when we have many casts. Besides, monster department is different, which means they only takes care of all clothings like spandex, normal cloths and some of small components.

In the bus, they have massive costumes on both sides and we get dressed at the aisle in the middle.

The job of the wardrobe staff is very hard. They come to the location early in the morning and prepare all costumes for all the cast separately. If they had 50 casts, they'll prepare for 50 different sets of costumes. Of course, they will never have enough time to have their breakfast, and then, they have to move to the shooting site with a ute which carries a bunch of costumes on its back. Now you know, even if all those casts got dressed on the bus, still we need a lot of options to use in filming such as, costumes for acting, action, wire and so on. Anyways, wardrobe has to have everything we need at the site.
Once we start filming, they keep coming and going between their costumes and the casts, to bring and put the helmets on each casts, clean the costumes, swap broken parts to spares etc.. And it'll never last till the filming lasts.

Uh-, I think I'll write more some other time.

Peace!

Hi there,

Continuously, story about Andrew the cameraman.
Needless to say, but all the cameramen shoot various things with their own cameras. And I guess, the most difficult thing to get is the thing which moves very fast like sports or fighting action, don't you think?

Wow, now it's easy to guess how hard to film with this kind of film camera which weights 14-15 kg.
In the Power Rangers, they often shoot those fighting scenes like this. First, he watches and remembers all the action choreography. Next, he plans how he's gonna move while the fight is going. Then rehearse all together(once, twice or maybe more if needed).
Unfortunately, I can't show people who's fighting in front of the camera...
He sets just like the photo above, as action, he starts running towards the people(2 heroes and 1 monster this time). After 6-7 meter run, he still keeps his posture to look them up from behind the monster.

At this moment, he also dutches the camera 45 degrees clockwise. As getting first series of offence and deffence, he turns around the monster's back, simultaneously dutching other way, to get the next series of fighting.

Puts himself back to the previous position, adjusting the frame square, and gets the rest of the fight. this time the monster beats these heroes, so after these heroes are blown off the frame he pushes into monsters face with another dutch....And cut!

(Sigh) It looks like there're 4 people fighting, doesn't it
It's very hard to explain everything virbally, but he also has to keep the frame not too shakie and of course, get all 3s' punching and kicking all the way.
Yeah, it's so hard to do this maneuver successfully in one time. Sometimes he's hit by the stunties, and sometimes misses the timing(stunties miss, too).
I wonder, in the world, how many cameramen can do this like Andrew does?...Maybe a few, I think.

Sorry about the long story, but I just wanted to say that there's a man who's fighting like Rangers everyday and he's a cameraman, and he's name is Andrew.

Peace!
Hi there, it's Sato.

Those stunties are not only fighting people at the shooting of the Power Rangers. I reckon, the best fighter among us is Andrew, the camera man.

In the middle of this picture, wearing a checked shirt is Andrew. This handsome guy who speaks good Japanese, is literally fighting with his camera against those stunties, actors and actresses.
First, it's quite natural though, if we took 60 shots a day, they're taken all by Andrew, of course. In Power Rangers, they often take over 100 shots a day, so that total shots are gonna be 250-400 shots a day include rehearsal and NG shots. Furthermore, he also manage to do the DP job at the same time which means Andrew is not only operating his camera but also making a decision of the lighting, background and every other factor in the shot in which he has a responsibility. How hard can you imagine working on 2 different section at the same time?!

with John, lighting master. Both are handsome.

But Andrew's bigtime is when he shooting the fighting scenes, I believe. And I'll tell you how he fights against it next.

Peace!

Hi there[:！:]

The world seems having a big time with the St. Valantine's Day, though I've nothing to do with it and spending my time on this weekend as usual.
Well, actually, I haven't had nor given any presents for years. I rather buy these chocolates for myself to enjoy...[:汗:]

In Japan, girls used to give e to a chocolate to boys, but the global standard looks a bit different.
Yeah, I saw many guys with a bouquet of roses and present boxes in the city[:！:]

As for me,

went out for shopping, cleaned my room, kicked back and just had a dinner, a baked mackerel and a natto(fermented soy beans, a Japanese delicacy) with rice.

2 days off is quite short for me and if I had any plan to do, i feel like I'm just wasting my time. But most of the time, I do it... Well, still it's fun, though[:ニコニコ:]

We start working from tomorrow again. I'll try my best with all my strength and knowledge.[:チョキ:][:チョキ:]

But, you have to be careful at the UV ray.

In NZ, it's said that the UV ray is 7 times stronger than other area in the world and a hat, sunnies and sun block are essential when you go out even on a cloudy day.

Without sun block, you might be like this in 1 day.
Hi it's IWAKAMI.
Looks good isn't it? You'd imagine that a super hero shows up himself from the top of the building, yeah?
I'm kinda excited when I shoot at locations like this!
You know, this is exactly the place super heroes take fight.

I love to look at the place like this but it's so hard to act as a hero.
We must choreograph the cool fighting scenes for ourselves, using these structures, background and environment.
In the Power Rangers, each stunties who takes parts of heroes have to choreograph their own fights, then the director arrange them indivisually and shoot one by one.
In fact, it's a good system coz you have many brains to make our scenes better and it actually works effectively.
So, every morning when we see the location, we wander around, look for a nice spot for the fight and sometimes discuss each other for a certain good spot(lol).
Well, this is how we produce the Power Rangers' fighting scenes！！！
And I'm looking forward to seeing tomorrow's shooting site.
